On Thursday Cardi B and Offset finally shared social media pictures showing their seven-month-old son’s face, and revealed his name to be Wave Set Cephus.

And now the Bodak Yellow singer, 29, and the Migos rapper, 30, are revealing why they waited a while before showing off their second child and announcing his name.

In a new interview with Essence, Cardi spoke about the trolling their daughter Kulture, three, had received and why it made them wary of sharing too much: ‘So many people will post mean, disgusting things, just to get a reaction from us.’

The I Like It hitmaker went on, saying, ‘We went through a lot of sad things when it comes to [our daughter] Kulture — terrible behavior that not even the older kids have ever been through.’

When their 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 boy was born in September 2021, the couple – who have been married since 2017 – decided to wait so that they wouldn’t have to put themselves through the same experience.

‘We want to protect our feelings, because we get very, very angry and upset,’ Cardi revealed.

The relentless online bullying recently led Cardi to make her daughter’s Instagram page – boasting more than 2 million followers – private.

The happy family are featured on the cover of the magazine, with their two kids as well as Offset’s three older children from three previous relationships: daughter Kalea, seven, and sons Jordan, 12, and Kody, seven.

Cardi – born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar – is seen wearing a stunning lilac tulle gown with a high collar, as she holds 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 boy Wave in her arms.

Meanwhile her husband is in a blue vest and pants, as he holds Kulture while she plants a kiss on his cheek.

Elsewhere in the interview Cardi revealed that she takes her role as a stepmom very seriously, and never wants Offset’s kids to feel left out.

‘After we got married, that’s when I first met his kids. I always wanted them to love me, and they really do. They tell me that. I feel it, and I hope that we always have a great relationship,’ she revealed.

Offset – born Kiari Kendrell Cephus – affirmed that the way his wife has navigated motherhood and the challenges of being a stepparent has made life smooth for the blended family.

‘It’s a blessing to be able to have them all together, and to have a wife who’s open and treats them as if they’re her kids. It could be an issue, but I don’t have to go through that, and that’s beautiful.’

On Thursday both Cardi and Offset shared adorable pictures of their 𝚋𝚊𝚋𝚢 boy to their Instagram pages.

Cardi then tweeted that Offset was the one who came up with the unique name. ‘When Set suggested Wave, I was sold! THAT HAD TO BE HIS NAME !’

The rap superstar first announced the birth of her son on September 6 with a sweet post on Instagram that showed her cradling Wave in her hospital bed while sitting next to Offset.
